The Hawker Fury was a British Bi-Plane fighter used by the RAF in the 1930's. Originally named the Hornet it was renamed Hawker Fury by the Air Ministry to reflect 'Ferocity'.
The Hawker Fury made its maiden flight at Brooklands on the 25th March 1931and was the first British Fighter to exceed 200 mph.
Due to the Great Depression only limited numbers were ordered and The Fury entered service with 43 Sqn, 1 Sqn and 25 Sqn Royal Air Force later in that year .
And improved version, the 'Fury II 'with a cleaned up airframe, reduced drag and the MkIV Kestral engine entered service in 1936 increasing the number of sqaudrons equiped with the Fury to six
The Fury was also exported to several countries including Norway, Spain, Portugal, Iran and South Africa
